“We may not be responsible for the world that created our minds,
but we can take responsibility for the mind with which we create our world.”

- Gabor Mate

Sovereignty in Sobriety offers
donation based community healings.
Within these circles we connect through
somatic, energetic and ancient medicine.

With Sovereignty in Sobriety, we aim to heal the root cause of addiction and trauma through community and connection.

Trauma Release Exercises (TRE) are the core of the support group holistic services offered and teach people about not just regulating their own nervous system but healing it in an accessible way.  TRE is a type of somatic practice, created by Dr. David Bercelli which is described as a body or body awareness practice to bring healing. “TRE® is an innovative series of exercises that assist the body in releasing deep muscular patterns of stress, tension, and trauma. Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises (or TRE®) is based on the fundamental idea, backed by research, that stress, tension and trauma is both psychological and physical.”  It is in engaging with this practice that clarity, connection, and an overall sense of peace is embodied.  Through the release of the muscular patterns of trauma, TRE elicits deep muscular relaxation and induces the body to activate the parasympathetic nervous system (the relaxation response).

Each healing circle is two hours long and centers around Trauma/Stress Release Exercises as the core activity. As of now, Sovereignty in Sobriety is held at D3 Arts the second Wednesday of every month and the last weekend at Sakala Community, all ages welcome. There is also a youth program that moves through the same outline but created in a way to meet youths where they are at so they may receive this medicine in a supportive way.

Program Outline

  • Opening Introduction and grounding techniques for a soft space

  • Open discussion and community shares guided by topics and teachings based in,
body awareness practices and root causes and solutions of addiction.

  • Trauma/Tension/Stress Release Exercises

  • The remaining activities in the program are practices that will be in rotation and integrate the
somatic or body awareness therapies. These holistic modalities create deeper self awareness and connection.

  • Closing shares with each other and the group for people to connect on their experience.

-Reiki Energy Healing:
A Japanese healing modality that promotes natural self
healing. It is a gentle hands on (or hands off) treatment working with the energetic body of an individual,
creating relaxation and supporting the creation of new neural pathways in the brain.

-Sound Healing:
A holistic method of using sounds and frequencies to improve one’s overall well being by directing sound waves through a person’s body. It brings a relaxing and calming effect.

-Thought Field Therapy (TFT) or Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT):
A holistic method where an individual taps on acupoints (certain places on the body) in
specific sequences to elicit the relaxation response.

-AcuDetox:
Also known as Ear Acupuncture or 5NP-Five Needle Protocol is a treatment that involves stimulating 5 points on the outer ear using needles or ear seeds. This treatment has historically been used to help alleviate symptoms of detox and withdrawal from opiates and addictive substances, though its benefits are more widely applicable and beneficial.

-Meditation:
Guiding different forms of meditation, such as visualization, awareness, grounding or heart rhythm to deepen the integration of TRE.

Community Healings
The first Wednesday of every month a group of skilled reiki practitioners hold space to bring individual reiki energy healing sessions to folks in community. Ear acupuncture (choose between needles or seeds) is also offered.

Come as you are, all are welcome! Feel free to hang with others over tea and card pulls in the cozy community room.

Reiki and Ear Acupuncture help calm the nervous system, give relief from anxiety/stress, better sleep and much more. Whether you're looking for physical, emotional, mental or spiritual healing, our practitioners are here to help and remind us that our individual healing is collective healing. This is a great introduction to to these healing practices if it is your first time experiencing and wanting to know more

Relax, reset and reconnect with community.
This is donation based and a first come first served process. We take the last folks at 7.

Meet the Facilitator
Lex, is a multi-faceted healer and somatic practitioner currently based in Denver.  She guides a private practice, Unveil with Lex and is also the founder of Sovereignty in Sobriety.  She aims to provide pathways of holistic healing for people in recovery where the process can be a catalyst for post traumatic growth and spiritual transformation. She strives to offer the support and radical empathy she needed in her own journey and that we all are deeply deserving of.  Lex now crafts a sacred journey, weaving the healing arts that were profound in her own recovery experience while also recognizing the depths of each person's journey.  She guides individuals to unearth their innate wisdom and embrace their sovereignty.  She invites us to rediscover the sanctuary within our minds, bodies, and spirits—a profound remembrance of our inherent wholeness, here and now.
